The number of in-jokes and homages to other classics is almost too many for a single blog post. The sequels, while missing some of the original's spontaneity, are definately worth a peek as well. I was unaware of the original intenetion as a hentai piece, but given the content I'm not at all surprised. And anyways, it's chock full of giant robots, plus a rather SDF-1'ish spaceship, so how can you go wrong? Project A-Ko is probably one of the best classics spoof animes out there.
