In one of my previous posts I talked about building up a tolerance for listening to Japanese audio. Another way to get content is to take you J-Drama or Anime and rip out the audio into an mp3 and put it on your Zune or iPod or other mp3 playing device. It is fairly simple and surprisingly easy. I did this with a few J-Drama’s and it is awesome for actually listening to Japanese. Kind of takes radio dramas to another level and gives you a lot more talking stuff to listen to.

Here are the steps

Download VirtualDub

Install It (extract the zip file)

Run VirtualDub.exe (if it doesn’t run right might need to run as administrator)

Open video file

File -> Export ->As Raw Audio…

Here are the steps, but a little more visually. This starts after you download and extract the files from the zip folder.

Be sure to click on VirtualDub.exe

This is what it looks like after you have started the Application

Click on Open Video File at top of File menu

This is what it should look like after you open a video file. In this case i have Akihabara@Deep open.

Menu Selection for exporting audio file. A dialog will open so just choose export location and file name.

At this point you should have an mp3 file you can add to your mp3 player.
