Game news Epic Games Store: two free games, including Yooka-Laylee, will succeed Rebel Galaxy

If you were hoping to catch up this summer among the free games offered on the Epic Games store that are lying around your library, it’s missed. The Epic Games Store does not relax its pace and offers two new games next week.

Currently, you can (re) get your hands on Rebel Galaxy. Already offered as part of the free games from the Epic Games Store in June 2019, Rebel Galaxy is an action game developed by Double Damage Games that we recently saw at the controls of a spin-off called “Outlaw” .

As a reminder, Rebel Galaxy, in its shooter guise, takes you to haggle across the universe to do business with aliens. However, if your eloquence is not sufficient, you can still make the powder speak to make your galactic commerce prosper.

The game is still available on the Epic Games Store. However, past August 19 at 5 p.m., two games will take its place, namely Yooka-Laylee and Void Bastards.

Upon its release, Yooka-Laylee is positioned very quickly, despite its flaws, as the spiritual successor of the Banjo-Kazooie duo.. It must be said that his tandem of animals is for once successful and that he manages to stage it in an adventure, across five worlds, which puts the genre of the platform back in the spotlight. Despite everything, he struggles to fully convince the players and accuses, among other things, a lack of originality as well as a formula that departs a little from its subject.. Wanderings that he will correct in his second part which will also abandon 3D for a 2.5D rendering that suits it much better.

Void Bastards, it was released in May 2019 and offers a clever mix of shooter, rogue-lite and strategy.. By taking as a framework a place that has been explored many times, namely space, Void Bastards still manages to put a retro-SF atmosphere to the original artistic direction and develop a wacky universe crippled with good doses of humor.. On the gameplay side, the game takes you to board many ships, to recover resources or carry out a specific mission, during which your battle plans will have to be carefully considered. Overall, the recipe is quite effective even if the game faces certain pitfalls such as the repetitive aspect of its concept or the redundancy of its environments.

These two will therefore be available for a period of one week, from August 19 to 26.
