Resident Evil – or Biohazard, as it’s known in Japan – is probably the most iconic gaming horror series there is. It’s been over two decades since the first Resi game launched back on the PC and PlayStation, and since then there have been nine mainline games, a couple of peculiar spin-offs, a slew of remakes and some bizarre ports.
The series has worked its way into pop culture at large thanks to a couple of (arguably misguided) live action films, and even Netflix is eager to muscle in on the action now, with a couple of series in the pipes based on Capcom’s offbeat horror mega-franchise. With a wealth of lore underpinning the entire series and some incredibly intricate narratives spinning off into the future, it’s safe to say that Resident Evil is going to be around for a while to come yet.
