The Legend of Zelda is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year since its first ever video game back in 1986. Since then, it’s become one of the most iconic video games in history with its main character, Link, used in several crossover games, board games, and even a TV series.
It’s no surprise that fans are already celebrating the 35th anniversary, with many propmakers and cosplayers already showing off their Link and Zelda cosplays. Propmaker SKS Props has decided to share his love for the game by creating a tutorial on how to create your own Deku Shild from the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
SKS Props’s shield is mashup of Super Smash Bros. and Ocarina of Time since he wanted to have his own artistic interpretation of the shield. He also used his own EVA foam that Blick Art Materials currently sells on their website.
He makes the base out of his 10mm HD EVA Foam and traces out the carved look with a Dremel. All of his wood carving looks are used with a Dremel which really makes the piece look like it’s a piece of wood. He also uses foam clay to seal off the edges that were glued together. After sealing and painting, the shield is done and certainly looks like it came straight from a Legend of Zelda video game.

SKS Props is also currently working on the Kokiri Sword to match the shield and will be posted in a future video. We can’t wait to see more Legend of Zelda builds like this throughout the year for the 35th Anniversary!
