Cosplay isn’t just for people, but for pets as well.
Many pet owners have taken to social media in the last decade to show their pet dressed up in costumes. Sometimes it’s just for Halloween, and sometimes they take it one step further and put their pets in full cosplay. We’ve seen pets from all over the world cosplay, from cats in Seattle dressing up as Bob Ross, to a cat in Japan that has over a hundred different handcrafted cosplays.
Now another cat from Japan has made Twitter headlines by cosplaying as the Catbus from Studio Ghibli’s My Neighbor Totoro. The catbus, a giant feline mixed with a bus, was one of the main characters in the movie by helping the girls Satsuke and Mei throughout the film.
While this cat is certainly much smaller than the actual catbus in the film, it is still super adorable and poses perfectly while his owner takes photos.

The cat quickly went viral on Twitter after it was posted, garnering over 131,000 likes and over 25,000 retweets. The cosplay was crafted by his owner using felt and added little felt straps so the piece could easily fit on the cat like a harness. They even added the mice on the top as the “lights” on the bus.
We absolutely love everything about this catbus cosplay and would love to see more pets cosplaying in the future. Want to see other traveling companion cosplays like this? Then be sure to check out our feature about a dog dressed up as Appa from Avatar: The Last Airbender!
