The portable Valve’s Steam Deck PC begins at $399 and landed in December

Reservations for Valve’s Nintendo Switch response open on Friday.

Rumors about Valve creating a portable steam game equivalent of the Nintendo switch are genuine. The firm introduced the Steam Deck, which is expected to arrive at the United States, Canada, the European Union and the United Kingdom in December and which will then spread to additional areas. The system begins at $399.

Although the hardware is not last, the gadget appears like a Switch, a Sega Game Gear and a Steam Controller at this moment, according to IGN. There is a 7 inch tactile screen, a resolution of 1,280 x 800 at a ratio of 16:10, a brightness of 400 nits and a refreshing rate of 60Hz.

Dual thumbsticks, two trackpads of 32,5mm square, an analog directional pad, four primary face buttons, triggers and a quartet of grip buttons as well as gyro controls are included. The Steam Deck also comes with a headphone port, stereo, dual microphone and haptical feedback. It weighs around 669 grams and is a foot broad.

Valve joined together on the hardware with AMD. The unique Steam Deck chipset has a 2.4 to 3.5 GHz processor and a 1.0 to 1.6 GHz GPU with eight RDNA 2 calculators. Valve says it is a “Zen 2 Plus RDNA 2 powerhouse,” ready to run the newest big games “in a highly efficient powerhouse.”

The portable PC is supplied with 16GB LPDDR5 RAM and up to 512GB of NVMe internal storage that may be expanded by using a microSD card. Valve states that the 40-watt-hour battery will run the gadget for a single charge between two and eight hours. The battery life depends on the intensity of resources of the games that you play. In the meanwhile, the switch takes up to nine hours.

Steam Deck is running on a special SteamOS version optimized for portable use. Valve claims it utilizes Proton, a compatibility layer that allows games to operate without any development work. You’ll get access to your entire games collection. You may anticipate access to numerous Steam services, such as chat, remote play (so you can play games almost anywhere from your PC), cloud-saving and, of course, steam shop.

The gadget features an integrated fast suspension and resume function. Pressing the power button stops your game and sends the Steam Deck to sleep. If you touch the power button again, you may resume where you left off.

A number of Bluetooth and USB-C accessories are supported by Steam Deck. You can connect to a powerful USB-C hub and instantly utilize numerous devices. You may connect the system and play the games at up to 8K at 60Hz or 4K at 120Hz to an external monitor.
