Propmaker Crafts Shang Chi’s Ten Rings That Glow

Shang Chi has been out in theaters since September 3rd and with it has become the number 1 movie in the world. Theaters have been hit hard during the pandemic, but Marvel and Disney are determined to bring them back with big blockbuster movies. Shang Chi has now grossed over 320 million worldwide, becoming the highest grossing movie since the pandemic began.

Cosplayers from around the world have praised the movie, from being invited to the World Premiere in Hollywood to creating their own cosplays in support of Marvel’s first Asian-led superhero movie. Now, another cosplayer and propmaker has created the Ten Rings in an absolutely mindblowing way.

Propmaker and cosplayer PropWay recently made Shang Chi’s staff using PVC pipe, red poster board, clear plastic hose, and two flashlights. This prop is great because it utilizes simple and cheap materials that are certainly worthy to be wielded by Shang Chi. You can check out his whole build video on his YouTube below.

However, PropWay wanted to take it one step further and create the Ten Rings from the movie. People had commented requesting him to make the Ten Rings and boy did PropWay deliver. The rings are made from EVA foam, acrylic paint, clear plastic sheets, magnets, and glowsticks. Yes, we did say glowsticks.

PropWay decided that instead of putting LEDs into the rings, glowsticks would be much more efficient. He inserts them into the opening of the ring on the inside and is able to choose which color glowsticks he wants depending on the character he is cosplaying (either Shang Chi or Wenwu). You can see the entire tutorial in his latest video on YouTube.

We are simply mindblown by the genius use of glowsticks for the Ten Rings and cannot wait to see what other props he creates from the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the future!
