A new strategic layer will allow you to direct the course of the invasion of Italy.
Eight years after the release of its second installment, Relic Entertainment is developing a new Company of Heroes game. Company of Heroes 3, announced today by publisher Sega, will move the World War II real-time strategy franchise to the Mediterranean theater. As previously, the emphasis is on controlling infantry squads and individual tanks, but a strategic map allows you to determine how to approach the Allied invasion of Italy. How you organize your actions there will influence the troops available to you in the subsequent real-time fights.
Additionally, Relic is implementing a pause button, which will enable players to halt the action and queue up instructions for all their units. In fact, it appears as though the single-player campaign will play out similarly to a Creative Assembly Total War title, which is unsurprising considering Sega’s ownership of both companies.
Company of Heroes 3 is scheduled for release in late 2022. In the interim, fans may link their Steam and Relic accounts to access an early build of the game. Additionally, the whole franchise is currently on sale on Valve’s website, making the second game available for for $1.10.
